What a wonderful spot in paradise!  Close to everything but seems like you are in your own private world.  Enjoyed the beach and meeting the locals.

MILO COTTAGE REVIEWS

Wonderful Stay, Wonderful Location! We had a wonderful stay at this Oceanfront cottage, but this is more of a large house than a cottage. If you plan to stay in the Paia area of Maui for any extended period of time, this is the place to be. There is no way you will find a better location. It is located right in the heart of the downtown Paia area, but still secluded enough to enjoy peace and quite right on the ocean. Stacy, the manager, took care of all our concerns and needs before we got there. Don, the owner, came over to greet us when we first got there, and was very nice and accommodating. The house was more than enough room for us and had everything you could possibly need, included a full kitchen, washer/dryer, grill, beach equipment, etc. Everything was kept up quite well and very clean. We could not have asked for a better place to stay. Thanks again for our wonderful stay!

A piece of paradise!

This house is superbly located in the heart of Paia – but is marvelously serene. You have no idea of the hustle and bustle behind the house, and shopping and amazing food is right at your doorstep. It was perfect for watching amazing sunsets and turtles in the water, and all staff and the owners were friendly and helpful! Marvelous – we hope to be back! Thank you Milo House!

Beautiful!

My family of four, my mother and my aunt stayed in this wonderful cottage for seven days and fit very comfortably. Not a disappointment at all from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. Situated away from the semi-busy town but just steps away to enjoy it too. We felt secure in this little community that is steps away from the ocean and to our surprise some turtles were relaxing to watch while we drank our morning coffee. My older daughters loved that the sandy beach was convenient to get to.

Finding a better place in Paia is simply not possible!

My family wanted to spend time together in Maui, recognized Paia, on the North shore, has such a great art and Hawaiian culture ambiance and culinary delights. Centered in Paia we knew we would have plenty to do and explore. The Milo house allowed us to enjoy our well deserved vacation together; so perfectly located right on the beach – a perfect view from the balcony – the glorious sounds of waves – water and wind touched our souls in ways only glory can only do. Don Nelson, who has won more than any NBA coach ever (wikipedia) and his beautiful and accommodating wife, Joy seem to take the same special interest in our stay as they seem to do in their successful lives. What a treat! We have never enjoyed a vacation as much as this! The two to three story house is immaculately clean and beautifully designed. It is well equipped, comfortable to use and well stocked. We slept with windows open to the sound of birds chirping in the morning and the sounds of the waves and ocean. We walked everywhere and public transportation is within blocks. There is easy access to shopping, entertainment, restaurants and cafes. We are looking forward to our future stay.

Exactly as advertised, or better!

The property advertised was better than expected. All representations of accommodations were true. In our group we had one disabled (slow-walking with a cane) person, and a few activity minded folks. My Mom, the slow-walker, had no trouble with the three stairs from the parking area or the longer, but short, flight from the backyard that faces the beach. We especially liked the friendly dogs that patrol the property looking for someone to pet them. They are truly non-aggressive, and very friendly girls during the hour per day they will spend with you if you let them. They do not beg, and will not enter the doorways. Green Sea Turtles entertained us on the beach at the end of the well-manicured green grass. We found it possible to walk to the little sandy beach by the community youth center by treading over the stone retaining wall with stairs on both ends—convenient, if you’re shy about your beach attire and want to avoid walking one block through town to get there. The rooms and communal spaces are appropriately finished with enough wares and supplies for us to spend ten days in the house and not run out of anything when cooking meals in the well-appointed upstairs kitchen. Everyone who visited us, loved the place. We all agree that we would love to come back and this might be the perfect accommodation for us in Maui. Even friends who stayed in luxury hotels figured out that Pa’ia was the place to be since they’d started there and moved to try a different side of the island. Of course, as with all islands, the weather in one place is different than the “other side” of the island. If you like windward facing sides (no bugs, more rain, more wind, cooler, less stifling beaches), Pa’ia delivers.

Perfect place for our family vacation

It would be hard to imagine a better location/home for a family vacation. Milo is exactly as portrayed in these words and pictures. We stayed for a week with our four adult children and all agreed that it was perfect. From breakfast and tea on the upper deck in the morning, to evening meals and conversation around the large dining table, the lovely ocean breezes and soothing ocean sounds provided a constant, peaceful backdrop. All of Paia is just beyond the long driveway, but you’d never know it when at the house or on the grounds. The place is so gorgeous it was sometimes difficult to leave for planned excursions. The dogs on the property are wonderful – incredibly well-behaved and super friendly. We wouldn’t hesitate to stay at Milo house again.

KAMAOLE VILLA REVIEWS

Love this house, location, owner and manager

We have rented several times before on VRBO in Hawaii and have not been disappointed once, however, this house is the best. The house was very clean and had all amenities. The pools and patio area was great. Music system was wonderful with outdoor speakers. The owner had the pool serviced and cleaned for us three times in the 8 days we stayed and also included maid service. The best thing is the beach (location, location, location), just steps away from the house, which we were able to look out onto from a nice wooden tree bench. Also, the sunsets every evening from our backyard. We love this house and will be back.

A real winner!

Our family vacations every summer in Maui and has been doing so for the past 10 years. When the children were younger, we always stayed at the (Fairmont) Kea Lani. In recent years and as the kids have gotten older and more independent, we have rented homes in Wailea, Kihei, Paia and Hana. This was our first time renting Kamaole Villa and it was all that it was presented to be on VRBO. Great location, very nice beach (literally 5 steps to the sand), great pools, and a wonderfully open floorplan.  Highly recommend staying here. The Property Manager was so pleasant and easy to deal with along with being very responsive and attentive. We will be back! Aloha and mahalo!

My family has rented many high end Maui homes over the years and I would have to say that this is our new favorite. You simply can’t beat the location and with pool/spa and 3 bed and bathrooms represents a good value. This is where you want to stay, your expectations will be exceeded.

Beach lover

An incredibly nice home.  I wish it could be mine year-round! Our accommodations were quite luxurious, but who cares when the only things separating us from the beach & ocean were the swimming pools and spa. The owners thought of everything. I loved the convenient location, walking distance to shops & restaurants, the wide expanse of beach right outside, and I especially loved that the entire back wall folds away and disappears, leaving the home wide open to the breeze & sound of the ocean.  Nothing is more relaxing than that.  Our week at Kamaole Villa – simply heaven.

This is truly Paradise!!!

We have had the pleasure to stay at this beautiful home on many of our trips to Maui. The location to shopping, eating establishments and water activities is excellent. All our needs were taken care of by the property managers and words cannot describe the decor of the home.

LogoNellies-white469Aloha and welcome to the tropical beauty and warm ocean breezes of Maui. Kamaole Villa is our private ocean beachfront home on Maui’s south shore (leeward side) in Kihei. Our charming 2 and 4 bedroom oceanfront cottages on Maui’s north shore (windward side) are in the quaint town of Paia. Both properties offer a perfect combination of privacy and convenience to all the local hot spots.

About Us

Don Nelson is a retired NBA Hall of Fame basketball coach and player.  Joy Nelson loves to paddle outrigger canoes and may take you along.

We went to Maui on our honeymoon and fell in love with the island.  We lovingly built the home in Kihei on the south side and lived there off and on for 15 years while working.  Now that we are retired we live on the north shore in Paia, next door to the rental cottages.  We love sharing the tropical beauty and ambiance of Maui with others.

Why you should book one of these pieces of paradise?  The views are incredible, on both sides of the island.  Maui has been named the best island in the world many times by Conde’ Nast. You will enjoy your privacy, while being able to walk to nearby shops and restaurants.
